Whether you struggle with scarring, skin discoloration, or fine lines and wrinkles – you’re not alone and Microneedling can definitely help!  Microneedling is a non-invasive skin resurfacing treatment performed in-office by a trained skincare professional, giving your skin effective results.  Microneedling minimizes pore size, tightens, lifts, and reduces the appearance of scars, stretch marks, wrinkles, & fine lines to achieve rejuvenated and smoother skin.  Yes, please!

How does Microneedling work?

The skin is cleansed and numbing cream is applied to lessen discomfort as an electric skin needling device uses tiny needles to create very fine micro-channels in the skin. This stimulates the production of new collagen and elastin fibers, which naturally enhances the appearance of your skin.  These channels also serve to allow better and quicker penetration of topical skincare products resulting in receiving maximum product benefits.

Fun fact: Microneedling can be used on multiple areas of the body (ex: face, neck, chest, arms, stomach, legs, etc…).

What to Expect After?

Most people experience mild redness and/or slight swelling similar to a mild sunburn for 24-48 hours after Microneedling treatment.  There may be minimal pin-point bleeding and/or bruising that occurs. Within a week or two, you will notice your skin feeling smoother and more radiant looking.  It’s important to be educated on what products to use. You will need to purchase a Post-Treatment Kit to help speed up the healing process.

PRO TIP: “We have found that the use of Retinols make your skin more sensitive. Therefore, we recommend to stop using all products that contain retinol at least 3 to 7 days before & after treatment. Exposure to sun should also be avoided and a broad-spectrum UV sunblock.” – Beautiful Skin by Carmen

Dermapen vs Dermaroller

You’ve probably heard of two different ways people get microneedling done.  The two types of treatment options are the use of a Dermapen or Dermaroller.  Both options have the same end goal of stimulating the skin to produce its own collagen and reverse the signs of aging in a holistic way. What’s the difference? The Dermapen is a small, handheld, pen-like device that has a sterile, disposable tip with 12 tiny needles. A dermaroller is a skincare device that has a roller with lots of small, fine needles on its surface.  Both devices pierce the skin in the area(s) to be treated. However, one of the biggest differences between the two treatments is that the needles on a dermaroller do not penetrate the skin vertically. The micro-needles of the Dermapen enter and exit the skin vertically, which is the desired result. The angle of the micro-needles can actually make tears in the skin and create a larger micro-channel than desired.   It’s extremely important to be aware of the type of tools you’re using and options you have available when getting this treatment done.
